I focus on the effects of transoceanic travel on the freighter’s hull—how saltwater, blistering sun, and relentless rain wear away layers of paint, revealing pockets of rust. The sunlight dances on the turquoise waters of Biscayne Bay, creating a mesmerizing backdrop for these industrial giants.

Matt “Captain Matt” Argondizza (b. Portland, Maine) is a multidisciplinary artist and naturalist based in Miami, Florida. He is co-founder and Head Preparator/Installer at Green Space Miami, exhibition spaces dedicated to discovering, promoting, and documenting the artists, creatives, and cultures of the Miami area. Matt studied graphic design at the Portland School of Art and is an accomplished boat captain and tour guide on Biscayne Bay. His photography reflects his deep love for nature, which is evident in his dedicated work rescuing seabirds in Biscayne Bay.
